An early 20th century view of the inside of St Mary's church shows it before electric lighting was installed. As there was no mains electricity in Wargrave then, a generator had also to be built - in the building that is now the Hannen Room

The official opening of the school to provide education for the village's older pupils took place in 1940 - the new school also serving surrounding villages
